A few highlights on SWAT4HCLS 2018

A few highlights on this year hashtag#swat4hcls conference. We have setup a program of tutorials that cover hashtag#pharma and hashtag#healthcare industry standards such as hashtag#fihr, #schema.org, hashtag#cdisc, hashtag#omop and their relations to the semantic web. We have built a consistent program around hashtag#agrosemantics ,sponsored by the Global Open Data for Agriculture and Nutrition (GODAN). This includes dedicate tutorials, keynote and panel discussions. We have selected keynotes touching hashtag#datascience, hashtag#agrisemantics and hashtag#business impact. We are working on an hashtag#hackathon bringing together many of the above. And: there is still time until October 1st for submissions! (October 15th for posters, demos and industry abstracts). Deadline extension (October 1st)

We have extended the deadline for submissions from September 1st to October 1st.

In the last years, we have always had a deadline late September / early October. We wanted to anticipate it this year, but due to the holiday break, this was not a convenient time for most people. So we decided to follow our usual timeline.

We also would like to take the chance to remind you that this year we are also seeking industry abstracts, as an additional form of submission.

Greetings from SWAT4HCLS 

We would like to update you on the status of preparations for SWAT4HCLS 2018 and remind you of upcoming deadlines and ways to participate in the conference.

KEY DATES FOR SUBMISSIONS

Abstract and paper submission opens: May 1st

Full paper abstract registration: July 30th *

Full paper submission: September 3th

Poster and demo submissions: October 8th

Notification of acceptance (papers): October 1^st

Notification of acceptance (poster and demo): 1 week after submission

*For full papers, we strongly encourage you to register your intention to submit (a title and an abstract) by end of July (this would help us in guaranteeing acceptance times and most allocation of your paper to the appropriate reviewers on the PC).

DISCOUNTED REGISTRATION COSTS

We are simplifying the price structure by dropping the distinction between early registration and regular registration costs. To compensate for this, we are offering several discounts of 20% on a first come/first served basis (please use the code: EARLY-PARTICIPANT) when registering.

THEMES

This years for the first time we have decided to enrich the program by proposing three sessions or themes: agriculture and nutrition, secondary reuse of healthcare data and open data. This in addition to the more general focus our conference, which is to generally foster the adoption of semantic technologies in healthcare and life sciences.

We are working on finalizing our journal submission policy for this year and will provide an open call authors of conference papers from last year and this year. We are also working on reworking our process to shorten publication times.
