From the IO Press release:
IO INFORMATICS TO HONOR EXCELLENCE AT UPCOMING SWAT4LS CONFERENCE IN EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND
BERKELEY, CA & EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND, November 27, 2013
IO Informatics and the SWAT4LS (Semantic Web Applications & Tools for Life Sciences) conference committee are pleased to announce the awarding of prizes for the best works presented at the upcoming SWAT4LS conference that will take place in Edinburgh, December 9-12, 2013 (http://www.SWAT4LS.org/workshops/edinburgh2013/)
First and second place for each of the two categories: “papers” and “posters or demos” will receive a copy of the IO Informatics’ Sentient Knowledge Explorer PRO.
Dr. Andrea Splendiani, co-Chair of SWAT4LS, said "We are delighted to have IO Informatics contributing to this year's meeting by providing their valuable software as awards.”
"IO is thrilled to be part of this premiere international conference and to honour scientific excellence within the semantic web community. The semantic web is being recognized by researchers in academic and industrial sectors as a valuable method to meaningfully integrate data and to harvest knowledge from the resulting information,” said Bob Stanley, CEO of IO Informatics.
IO Informatics’ Sentient Knowledge Explorer PRO is the leading semantic integration power tool. It excels at the application of “top-down” ontology resources to “bottom-up” data import and ETL to provide the most efficient path to well-formed linked data suited to long-term interoperability while delivering integrated data applications quickly. It also gives the researcher a platform to visualize and easily query and explore the underlying knowledge contained in their data. (www.io-informatics.com)
In addition to providing the prizes, Charlie Mead, Senior Solutions Architect for IO, will be presenting a tutorial entitled: Applying Semantic Web Technologies in Clinical Care and Clinical Research: A SWOT (Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats)Perspective. (http://www.SWAT4LS.org/workshops/edinburgh2013/scientific-programme/). Dr. Mead is a widely known expert in life science data standards, the semantic web and its applications. He is Co-Chair of the W3C HealthCare and Life Sciences Semantic Web Work Group and is a frequent speaker on the application and value of the semantic web.
